1:5 scale model of the Rolls Royce MT30 marine gas turbine. The model has had part of the acoustic enclosure cut away to show the turbine core within. The model is over 2 metres long.

The MT30 is in large part based on the Trent 800 aero engine as fitted to the Boeing 777, and retains around 80% commonality with that engine.

The package has been chosen to power both of the Royal Navy Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers as well as the US Navy's DD(X) multi-mission destroyer. In 2004 Lockheed Martin specified the MT30 for its Littoral combat ship design.

This model represents the repackaged MT30 intended for smaller ships, with the first order destined for the South Korean Incheon class frigates. Rolls Royce is marketing the MT30 as a potential engine for the Royal Navy’s future Type 26 frigates.
