Problem

The company had perceived a market for a lightweight version of the Warrior APC, and had a basic design on the drawing board. It was felt however that the design lacked impact and had paid no heed to low observable technology.

Solution

Lawson's were brought in very early in the design process, and using the GKN design as a basis, produced a 1:10 scale model incorporating certain essential design features to make the vehicle less visible to radar, and to style the vehicle in a manner appropriate to the market. GKN then used the model from which to produce a full sized prototype which was used at several exhibitions and trials whilst more comprehensive design work could be undertaken.
